Radioactive Iodine Treatment Rooms
Money raised from gold bow sales will go towards improving the environment of radioactive iodine (RAI) treatment rooms in public hospitals throughout Australia. Thyroid cancer patients are isolated in these treatment rooms for a 3-4 days, whilst undergoing radioactive iodine treatment. This treatment is given to thyroid cancer patients after surgery to remove their thyroid gland.
The ATF intends to make these treatment rooms more comfortable for patients during their stay. Annual Gold Bow Day sales will continue to support this fundraiser.
The photos below show the RAI rooms at Royal North Shore Hospital, which are earmarked to be the first to benefit from The ATF's Gold Bow Day fundraising.
